[WATCH] "Boyfriend on Demand" Trailer: Jisoo explores fantasy love in Netflix’s virtual dating rom-com

Netflix just dropped the main trailer for its upcoming Korean rom-com Boyfriend on Demand, and it’s already shaping up to be a glossy, high-concept spin on modern love.

Front and center stands Jisoo, who trades global stages for office cubicles as Mi-rae, a burned-out webtoon producer craving something more than deadlines and overtime. Her escape? A subscription-based virtual dating service that scripts the romance of her dreams.

Inside this digital playground, Mi-rae hops from one fantasy to another — a princely fairytale, a fluttery first love, a suave doctor, and even a mission-bound secret agent. Each scenario feels plucked from a different K-drama universe, and the trailer leans into the indulgence with unapologetic sparkle.

But reality refuses to log off. Back at work, Mi-rae keeps crossing paths with Kyeong-nam, played by Seo In-guk. Their chemistry simmers in quiet glances and shared overtime shifts. While her virtual boyfriends deliver perfection on demand, Kyeong-nam offers something messier, and far more real.

Director Kim Jung-sik promises range. “One of the most appealing points of ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ is that the main character experiences different romantic relationships with various individuals, in diverse settings and universes, all within a single series,” he says, adding that viewers can expect “a wide spectrum of romantic comedies.” He also crafted the virtual sequences to spotlight Jisoo’s versatility, subtly reshaping her persona in each fantasy world.

The series stacks its deck with high-wattage cameos from Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Hyun-wook, Jay Park, Kim Young-dae and Lee Sang-yi. Each actor brings a distinct romantic archetype to Mi-rae’s simulated love life.

Produced by Whynot Media, Baram Pictures and Kakao Entertainment, the series premieres March 6.

Long after the trailer fades to black, a question lingers: when perfection is programmable, does love still gravitate toward beautiful unpredictability and chaos? Curious to see how it unfolds? Watch the trailer below.
