Netflix has officially lifted the curtain on Boyfriend on Demand, unveiling its first teaser and confirming a March 6 premiere date. The upcoming K-drama stars BLACKPINK’s Jisoo alongside Seo In-guk and promises a glossy mix of romance, comedy, and virtual fantasy—set against a near-future dating landscape.
First announced in February last year, Boyfriend on Demand arrives after months of anticipation. Directed by Kim Jung Sik and written by Namgung Do-young, the series positions itself as a wish-fulfillment romantic comedy rooted in virtual reality. Netflix released the 1:03 minute teaser on February 5, giving fans their first immersive look at the drama’s playful yet emotionally charged world.
Jisoo plays Seo Mi-rae, a webtoon producer worn down by relentless work and failed dating attempts. Love has slipped far down her priority list, until she subscribes to a virtual dating service called Boyfriend on Demand. The app allows users to experience customized romantic scenarios, designed to feel like stepping inside a living webtoon.

The teaser opens with Mi-rae slumped at her office desk, exhaustion etched across her face. Seo In-guk appears soon after as Park Gyeong-nam, a serious, enigmatic figure working in the same field. When Mi-rae activates the dating service by slipping on a sleek ring-like device, the world around her transforms. A calm voice explains the rules of the game: “It’ll appear on you automatically every time you log in. Take it off, and you’ll log out.”
From there, the teaser moves through dreamy vignettes—romantic campuses, sunlit spring dates, fantasy-like encounters—each leaving Mi-rae visibly stunned and intrigued. As the clip nears its end, a voice asks the question driving the entire series: “Who will you be dating today?”
While Mi-rae finds herself chasing idealized love inside the simulation, reality refuses to stay out. She repeatedly crosses paths with Gyeong-nam, a colleague she feels inexplicably uncomfortable around and actively avoids. The series hints that their virtual and real worlds may eventually collide, setting the stage for an unpredictable romance.
Jisoo shared her excitement about the project, saying, “This is a project that’s ready to deliver vicarious heart-fluttering moments to viewers. I hope it will be a fun escape for those tired of everyday reality.”
Netflix’s synopsis describes the series as: “Seo Mi-rae is worn out by work. Love? It’s the last thing on her mind. But a virtual dating service sparks feelings — and maybe a real shot at romance.”
Boyfriend on Demand spans ten episodes, carries a 13+ rating, and will drop all episodes at once on Netflix. Tagged as a limited series, the story is designed to conclude within a single season. So expect no cliffhangers, just a complete romantic ride.
