Zayn is officially entering his next era. The global pop-R&B artist has announced his fifth studio album, Konnakol, set to arrive on April 17, and the countdown has already begun.
The reveal follows the conclusion of his successful Las Vegas residency (January 20-31) at Dolby Live at Park MGM, where Zayn previewed brand-new material and reignited fan excitement.
During the residency, Zayn debuted songs from the upcoming record, including the lead single “Die for Me,” which drops this Friday, February 6. The performances blended unreleased tracks with fan favorites from critically acclaimed records Mind of Mine, Icarus Falls, Nobody Is Listening, and Room Under the Stairs, offering a glimpse into where his sound is headed next.
“It’s that time again, I have been lucky enough to make a fifth studio album,” Zayn shared while announcing the project. He also opened up about the album’s deeply personal title, stating:
“KONNAKOL in its definition is the act of creating percussive sounds with one’s voice but what it means to me lies somewhere much deeper. It is a sound that holds the reverberation of a time before words existed. I have always drawn on my heritage for inspiration since I first started making my own music, this album is a development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever, who I am, where I come from and where I intend to go.”
Konnakol follows Zayn’s 2024 release Room Under the Stairs, a stripped-back, acoustic-driven album created with Dave Cobb that emphasized lyricism and intimacy. Now, Zayn pivots back toward the R&B-inflected pop that defined his 2016 debut Mind of Mine, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this March.
Cultural identity remains central to the new era. Like the debut album Mind of Mine, which featured an Urdu interlude, Konnakol highlights Zayn’s roots. During his Las Vegas shows, he teased the album’s themes with striking visuals of a snow leopard, a South Asian symbol of strength and freedom. He also opened sets with an unreleased track fans have dubbed “Nusrat,” an Arabic name meaning victory.
Released via Mercury Records/Island Records U.K., Konnakol arrives as Zayn reclaims momentum, confidence, and creative clarity — and he’s inviting listeners along for the journey.
