Ralphy Grey and Craymo make a case for simply going for it on “Don’t Hold Back (Carpe Diem),” a dance-pop collaboration that pairs Berlin synth-pop production with the Florida singer-songwriter’s warm, direct vocal style.
Released July 31 via ZYX Music, the track leans into ’80s-inspired synths without turning the production into a retro exercise. Grey builds the song around pulsing bass, bright electronic textures and a clean pop arrangement, while Craymo gives its message some human weight. The central idea is straightforward: leave doubt behind, trust yourself and make use of the moment in front of you.
The Berlin-to-Orlando collaboration came together remotely, with Grey writing and producing the track and Craymo contributing creatively. Their approaches fit naturally. Grey keeps the instrumental moving with enough club energy to carry the chorus, while Craymo delivers the song’s optimism without pushing it too hard.
“Don’t hold back, your life is right on track… Carpe diem, seize the day” sums up the song’s outlook, but its appeal is less about the slogan than the music around it. There is an uncomplicated pleasure in its combination of melody, rhythm and glossy synth work, making it an easy fit for a drive, a workout or a dancefloor.
The single has already picked up recognition, earning two 2026 Hollywood Independent Music Awards nominations in the EDM and Dance categories. It has also received two Indie Music Channel Awards nominations for Best Soundtrack Song and Best Soundtrack Recording.
For Grey and Craymo, though, the point remains simple. “That people find the joy in the music and remember all the fun that dance music brings into our lives!” they say.
