Chinese series ABO Desire is setting new standards in Chinese BL entertainment with their latest announcement.
The series, based on the novel by Nong Jian – who also helms the show – has already created plenty of social media buzz for its bold storyline exploring the omegaverse sub-genre.
Now, the stars of the series Huang Xing(Eliot) and Qiu Ding Jie(Kipuka) have been announced as an official/fixed character pairing(CP).
While official ship names – and the branding of fixed pairings – are common for actors in other Asian BL, the Chinese BL industry typically refrains from the practice of announcing a fixed coupling or fandom name for its actors, owing to the strict censorship over queer content in China.
However, on August 8, the official management for XingQiu has been established. This means Eliot and Kipuka have now become the first official CP in Chinese entertainment, and will likely collaborate again. The pair also have confirmed an official fandom name Star Cups as well as an official fandom colour Galactic Purple.
With its one-of-a-kind plot, stunning production value and the chemistry of its cast – which also stars Jiang Heng and Li Pei En – ABO Desire has already breaking moulds – and this latest development is yet another milestone!
