Paige Rose turns the pressure of feeling left behind into a quiet conversation about faith on “Set the Pace,” her latest country-rock release.
The Nashville-based singer opens with a familiar frustration: watching everyone else seem to move forward while your own plans remain stuck somewhere behind.
“Seems like everybody else is right on track / And I’m stuck back / Where the wheels fell off and I fell apart,” she sings, setting up a song that is less about having all the answers than learning to stop measuring your life against someone else’s.
That shift becomes clearer in the chorus, where Rose trades urgency for patience and asks God for the grace to keep going, even slowly. The writing feels personal yet universal, particularly when she admits, “Could you send me a sign if I cross your mind? / ‘Cause God, I’m trying to trust your timing.”
It is a natural fit for Rose, whose music has long balanced country storytelling with a rock edge. Following her 2022 debut and other releases including “Whiskey Drinker” and “Just a House,” “Set the Pace” introduces a more inward-looking side of her writing.
For Rose, the song is ultimately about accepting that progress does not have to happen on schedule. And sometimes, moving slowly is still moving.
