James White & The Wild Fire unveils “The Ballad of Jimmy Blanco” from their forthcoming EP, How To Replace Anxiety With A Broken Heart.
Showcasing a vibrant blend of country, bluegrass and Americana instrumentation, the track is led by playful delivery and tongue-in-cheek but emotive lyricism to make for an unfiltered sonic experience.
Built on acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, double bass and drums, the soaring number is hypnotic, visceral and energetic as it finishes with an atmospheric, psychedelic flourish.
Speaking about the new single, band leader and songwriter James White explains, “The Ballad of Jimmy Blanco is my personal favourite on the EP. It was written a year or so after failing to move on from a bad breakup – the one Bonfire was written about. I basically just thought “if one of my mates were in this position, what would you be saying to them?”, hence the use of an alter ego in the title. Personally, I think it is the showcasing of each members’ individual talents that makes the song pop. From Brooke’s bass solo, Mike’s two Violin solos, Joe’s harmonies and even my solo. I also really, really love the psychedelic build up before the last chorus!”
Having carved out a space for themselves with signature blend of psychedelic folk rock and traditional American roots, James White & The Wild Fire build a soulful but crisp sonic world that’s as intimate as it expansive.
Having established themselves as a compelling yet refined act, the band is set to mark a more reflective phase of their musical journey with the upcoming EP to explore themes of rupture, anger, confusion, and eventual emotional recalibration.
