Georgie Najar explores identity and growth on new EP "Need to Know"

New York singer-songwriter Georgie Najar is marking a major milestone with the release of her four-track EP, Need to Know, and an accompanying video for the title track, both released on June 5.

The project arrives as the emerging artist continues to build momentum following a packed EP release show at New York City’s iconic Bitter End.

Raised on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and currently a student at New York’s Professional Performing Arts School, Najar has developed a songwriting style defined by emotional clarity, introspection and understated vulnerability.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Noah Kahan, Lizzy McAlpine, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, and James Taylor, she explores the complexities of identity, relationships, mental health and growing up through a distinctly personal lens.

At the heart of Need to Know is a reflection on trust, communication, and the patterns people often repeat in relationships. The title track examines trust, communication, and the cycles people can find themselves repeating in relationships, ultimately widening into a reflection on personal agency and knowing when it’s time to move forward.

Meanwhile, lead single “Whatever” captures the frustration of feeling overlooked before transforming into an empowering statement about self-confidence and letting go of external validation.

Written across different stages of Najar’s life, the EP captures the uncertainty of adolescence and young adulthood without offering easy resolutions. Instead, the songs embrace ambiguity and honest self-reflection.

As Najar explains, “A lot of these songs came from experiences I was trying to make sense of at the time. I hope people can find something they relate to in them and feel a little less alone in whatever they’re going through.”
