Chinese social media platform Rednote has launched a print magazine for the country’s senior creators.

Rednote also known as Xiaohongshu in China is a popular image sharing app, which has begun to boast a growing community of older creators. The app has tapped into the popularity of senior creators with an innovative move ; launching a print magazine called Lao Hong Shu/ Beyond the Years to celebrate these creators and their content.

Released on June 1, eyond the Years is a nearly 200-page physical publication which features several Rednote creators aged in their 50s and 60s. With stories drawn from real posts on the app, the content spans everything from senior fashion and embroidery to retirement travel, home makeovers and even powerlifting.

Some viral content creators featured in the magazine includes 53-year-old relationship blogger Xiashibiya and 90-year-old “self-discipline grandma” Meiying.

The magazine is not sold online. It is simply available for people to flip through for free at offline reading spots across 16 Chinese cities. From flower shops and bookstores to hair salons and cafes as well as other community spaces, the magazine is not only a unique way to celebrate a niche of creators – who create stylish, funny, thoughtful and at times athletic content – but also celebrate the importance of print media!
