Sigourney Weaver honored at TCL Chinese Theatre ahead of ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’

Hollywood paid tribute to Sigourney Weaver on Friday as the legendary actress cemented her handprints and footprints outside the historic TCL Chinese Theatre. This adds another milestone to a career that has shaped modern science-fiction cinema for nearly five decades.

The ceremony arrived just days before the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Weaver’s first project within the Star Wars universe. The actress was joined at the ceremony by co-star Pedro Pascal and filmmaker James Cameron, both of whom reflected on Weaver’s on sci-fi cinema.

Pascal praised the actress as the “original space mom,” a nod to her legacy across genre-defining films including Alien and Avatar. Cameron, who directed Weaver in Aliens, called her “the ultimate icon of female badassery in cinema,” adding that her performances still resonate today because she portrayed “the intelligent woman that the men didn’t listen to.”

Weaver, meanwhile, reflected on her decades in Hollywood with both humility and wit. Calling the recognition “the greatest honor,” she said her career had taken her “from one amazing character to another” across generations of storytelling. The actress also drew laughter from the crowd with a joke about kneeling on Hollywood Boulevard, quipping that it was “by far the best scenario.”

With The Mandalorian and Grogu set to hit theaters on May 22, the ceremony served as both a celebration of Weaver’s legacy and a reminder that one of sci-fi’s defining stars is still charting new territory.
