Pop has always loved a disruptor. This year, the BRIT Awards 2026 handed the rulebook to PinkPantheress and let her rewrite it in real time.
The 24-year-old artist has won Producer of the Year at the 2026 ceremony, becoming both the youngest recipient in the award’s history and the first woman to take home the prize since its inception in 1977. In a category previously dominated by studio titans like Paul Epworth, Calvin Harris, Fred again.. and last year’s winner A. G. Cook, her win feels less like a surprise and more like a long-overdue shift.
PinkPantheress built her world from the inside out. She crafts her own beats, stitches together UK garage and featherlight pop and turns diaristic fragments into global earworms. Her latest mixtape, Fancy That, landed on the 2025 Mercury Prize shortlist, while tracks like “Boy’s a Liar,” “Stateside,” and “Illegal” continue to ripple across charts and culture.
“As the first woman to win this award, I’m grateful to be recognised,” she said following the announcement as noted by the BRIT awards. “My music production is the thing I’m proudest of, and I’ve worked really hard at it, so I hope this inspires others to pursue their passion.”
Stacey Tang, Chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and Co-President of RCA Records UK, called her “an inventive and instinctive voice in British pop,” adding that she is “quietly reshaping what modern pop can be.”
The ceremony will take place today (February 28) at Manchester’s Co-op Live, where PinkPantheress also competes for Artist of the Year and Dance Act. Win or not, she has already shifted the conversation. And this time, the producer isn’t behind the scenes, she’s front and center.
