Perrie Edwards expecting second child with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has announced she is pregnant with her second child with footballer fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, sharing the news in a joyful Instagram post.

Perrie Edwards has shared joyful news with fans: the Little Mix star is pregnant with her second child with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 32-year-old singer revealed the news in a heartwarming Instagram video on Saturday (Sept. 6), smiling as she cradled her growing baby bump.

Edwards captioned the post simply, “Guess what hunnies…” and wore a white t-shirt referencing her solo single “If He Wanted To He Would.”… and he did.

The couple, who are already parents to four-year-old son Axel, are now preparing to welcome another baby into their family. Their announcement quickly drew messages of support, including from Edwards’ former Little Mix bandmates. Jade Thirlwall wrote: “Love you and so happy for you all.” Leigh-Anne Pinnock added: “Just the best news! Love you all.”

The news comes at an especially poignant time for Perrie Edwards, who recently opened up about the heartbreak of pregnancy loss. Speaking on Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, she revealed that before giving birth to Axel in August 2021, she had experienced an early miscarriage. While she described that loss as not “traumatising,” Edwards went on to share the devastating experience of losing another pregnancy a year later.

She recalled discovering at her 22-week scan that the baby’s heart had stopped beating. Fighting back tears, she said: “That was just the worst day of my life. Like, horrendous. I’ve never experienced an out-of-body experience where everything goes in slow motion.” Edwards and Oxlade-Chamberlain later learned that they had lost the baby at around 24 weeks. “I remember sobbing. Alex was injured at the time and couldn’t really drive. He was struggling to drive, but I couldn’t see straight. I was just distraught,” she said.

Reflecting on those losses, Edwards described her firstborn Axel as her “rainbow baby,” a term used for a child born following miscarriage or stillbirth. She also spoke about drawing strength from other women who have shared their experiences, including musician Myleene Klass, who has worked to raise awareness around miscarriage.

The couple’s relationship began in 2016, and they have been engaged since June 2022, when Oxlade-Chamberlain proposed during a beachside sunset. Their bond has long been a source of inspiration for Edwards’ solo work, with songs like “You Go Your Way” and “Cute Aggression” written about their early romance and life together.

While Perrie Edwards has been making her mark as a solo artist with tracks such as “Forget About Us” and “If He Wanted To He Would” from her debut album Perrie, she and Oxlade-Chamberlain are now preparing for a new chapter at home. With Axel set to become a big brother, the couple’s baby joy marks a moment of celebration after years of both triumphs and challenges.
