Eric Hirshberg has released “What’s Not Wrong,” the latest single from his forthcoming album More Is Not The Answer, arriving September 21. Built around a propulsive bass line and an expansive pop-rock chorus, the track pushes back against the constant pull of negativity by asking a deceptively simple question: what, instead, is going right?
Rather than presenting gratitude as passive optimism, Hirshberg frames it as an intentional act of attention. The song finds meaning in everyday experiences, from time spent with loved ones to quiet moments of reflection, arguing that resilience can begin by recognising what already exists instead of dwelling on what is missing. Its bright, anthemic arrangement reinforces that message without losing sight of the emotional weight behind it.
“This is a stubbornly optimistic song in a stubbornly pessimistic time,” Hirshberg says. “We are bombarded with negativity on an industrial scale, but we are also living through the safest, most prosperous time to be a human being in the history of the world.”
Released alongside an official performance-driven music video, “What’s Not Wrong” also sharpens the central idea behind More Is Not The Answer. Across the upcoming album, Hirshberg explores how attention shapes modern life, examining themes of technology, family, gratitude, purpose and human connection while questioning the instinct to seek constant stimulation instead of appreciating what is already present.
The single follows a series of releases that have gradually introduced the album’s broader concept, including “For Real” featuring Aloe Blacc, “We’re All In This Alone,” the title track, and “Less Important Things.”
Before dedicating himself to music, Hirshberg led Activision as CEO and previously headed Deutsch LA. Since shifting his focus to songwriting, he has amassed more than three million streams and earned recognition from industry tastemakers.
“What’s Not Wrong” stands among his clearest statements yet, pairing accessible songwriting with a timely reflection on perspective. Listen to the track below:
