New York hard rock band Hunter Road push further into their rough-edged sound with “The Runaway Song,” a heavy alt-rock release build around themes of escape, exhaustion and self-destruction.
Formed in a garage in White Plains, the band has steadily built a reputation for explosive live performances, and the same intensity drives the new single from the first riff.
“The Runaway Song” trades slick production for pure intensity, driving forward on cutting guitar work and a rhythm section that keeps the tension constantly on edge.
Rather than glorifying chaos, Hunter Road frames it as something corrosive. The lyrics feel loud, circling around movement as a form of avoidance, and capturing the point where running stops feeling liberating and starts becoming its own trap.
“Living fast stops feeling free when there’s nowhere left to run,” the band shared about the release. “The faster you run from your demons, the harder they chase.”
While Joe Chandler’s vocals drive the song’s tension, guitarists Abe Sanchez and Leland Fraser bring in the grit and weight that give the track its hard rock edge. Bassist Mike Goiricelaya and drummer Andre Jevnik keep the momentum tight and relentless, matching the song’s spiraling themes.
“The Runaway Song” marks the band’s sixth single so far, with an EP expected later this year. The release visuals are available on Instagram, while the track can be streamed on Spotify below.
