Taylor Swift has finally unveiled the music video for “Opalite,” and it’s a shimmering, nostalgia-drenched visual that deepens the song’s themes of longing, connection and forging your own path to happiness.
The video debuted on February 6 morning on Apple Music and Spotify Premium. This marks an unusual rollout for Swift, who typically leads with a YouTube premiere.

Unlike the theatrical spectacle of her previous single “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite” leans softer, warmer and unmistakably ’90s. The video opens as a tongue-in-cheek infomercial for an “Opalite” spray — a glittery cure-all promising companionship and fulfillment.
From there, Swift steps into the role of a lonely woman emotionally attached to her pet rock, mirroring the quiet isolation that pulses through the song’s lyrics.
Enter Domhnall Gleeson, portraying a similarly solitary man bonded to his pet cactus. When Opalite finally intervenes, the two drift toward each other through a series of delightfully absurd yet tender moments. Expect everything from mall dates, dance competitions, playground swings and paper fortune tellers. It’s rom-com whimsy with emotional weight — playful on the surface, and sincere at its core.

The cast itself feels like a love letter to creative serendipity. Swift reunites her entire Graham Norton Show panel from her The Life of a Showgirl promo appearance, including Cillian Murphy, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi, and Norton himself. Murphy narrates the infomercial, Norton appears as a mall salesman, and Swift’s Eras Tour dancers add subtle continuity across eras.
On X, Swift revealed that the idea struck unexpectedly while sitting on Norton’s iconic red couch. “My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea,” she wrote, explaining that the concept “crash landed into my imagination” during the show. It was sparked by a light-hearted joke from Gleeson about wanting to appear in one of her videos.
Shot on film and soaked in scrunchies, overalls, friendship bracelets, and disco lights, “Opalite” mirrors the song’s emotional core. It captures the giddy relief of finding a love that feels earned, steady, and self-made — much like the gemstone that inspired it.
The video remains exclusive to Spotify Premium and Apple Music until February 8. It premieres tomorrow on YouTube at 8 a.m. ET. Stay tuned.
