GLAAD Media Awards nominations announced – See full list of nominees

The nominations for the 37th annual GLAAD Media Awards are in with HBO Max’s acclaimed hockey drama Heated Rivalry up for best new TV series. 

With nearly 300 nominees across movies, TV, music, gaming, podcasting, journalism and more, the awards which honours and celebrates representations of the LGBTQ community in media has announced an extensive list spanning 31 award categories.

In addition to Heated Rivalry, TV nominations include Apple TV’s Pluribus in the best new TV series category. In other TV categories, Netflix smash hit Stranger Things and Doctor Who from Disney+ have earned nods in the best drama series category. 

Other nominations include films like  Blue Moon, Cristy, Clown in a CornfieldDownton Abbey: The Grand Finale etc in the Outstanding Wide-Release Film prize with  Cactus PearsFairylandGriffin in SummerI Wish You All the Best and A Nice Indian Boy up for consideration in the Limited-Release Film.

In a statement, GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said : “The most popular series and media appear on this year’s list of nominees because LGBTQ stories are a winning strategy for a global audience who demands bold and original storytelling. As the media landscape shifts, gaming, local news, and podcasts have also emerged as proud homes to LGBTQ talent and narratives. In the face of rising anti-LGBTQ disinformation, GLAAD remains relentless in our mission to work across all forms of media and to tell the fair and accurate stories that protect values of family, fairness, and freedom for all.”

Winners wil be announced at the 37th GLAAD Media Awards ceremony taking place on March 5 in Los Angeles.
