Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol have been immortalised in in London’s Leicester Square.
On Thursday, December 4, the pair unveiled a bronze statue of Raj and Simran, their much-celebrated characters from iconic 1995 romantic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Directed by Aditya Chopra, the film which defined romance for a whole generation, makes history as the first Indian film honoured in the “Scenes in the Square” trail alongside Harry Potter and Paddington Bear. The film also holds the Guinness record as the world’s longest-running film, with ongoing weekly screenings in Mumbai.
SRK and Kajol appeared alongside Kajol’s children to unveil the life-sized sculpture which captures the famous umbrella scene from the blockbuster.
On X, Khan marked the historic moment by quoting his character’s classic line – which most desi loverboys are likely familiar with – inviting everyone to celebrate 30 years of DDLJ with them.
