Netflix drops trailer for Aryan Khan’s bold directorial debut ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’

Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood trailer launch

Netflix has released the much-anticipated trailer for The Ba***ds of Bollywood (The Bastards of Bollywood), Aryan Khan’s directorial debut. The series is already being called one of the most talked-about streaming releases of the year. Spanning seven episodes, it arrives on September 18 with a sharp, unflinching, and irreverent take on the intoxicating highs and crushing lows of the Hindi film industry.

Produced by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt. Ltd. and helmed by creator-director Aryan Khan, the show is described as both a love letter and a wicked roast of Bollywood’s glittering yet chaotic ecosystem. The trailer, which dropped today (September 8), teases a saga that is fast-paced, unapologetically loud, and brimming with one-liners, cameos, and self-aware spectacle. It’s a far cry from the usual starry gloss audiences expect from Hindi cinema.

At the center of the story is Aasmaan Singh (Lakshya), an ambitious newcomer with dreams bigger than the silver screen. His loyal best friend Parvaiz (Raghav Juyal) stands firmly by his side, while his sharp-tongued manager Sanya (Anya Singh) works to keep him in check. At home, his family — uncle Avtar (Manoj Pahwa), mother Neeta (Mona Singh), and father Rajat (Vijayant Kohli) — provides a steady anchor. But even with this support system, Aasmaan’s pursuit of stardom soon drags him into murkier depths.

Aasmaan collides with his greatest challenge when he takes the role opposite Karishma (Sahher Bambba), daughter of Bollywood’s reigning megastar Ajay Talvar (Bobby Deol). What begins as a career-making opportunity quickly escalates into a battle of egos, ambition and generational divides, pitting the novice against entrenched power. Between the cutthroat maneuvers of producer Freddy Sodawallah (Manish Chaudhari) and the desperate schemes of Jaraj Saxena (Rajat Bedi), a once-celebrated actor clawing for a comeback, Aasmaan finds himself entangled in the ruthless, ever-shifting politics of Bollywood.

As if the drama weren’t already dialed up, the trailer delivers a headline-making twist: the first-ever on-screen convergence of Bollywood’s three Khans. Shah Rukh Khan — Aryan Khan’s father and one of the industry’s biggest icons — seizes the spotlight in a fiery sequence that skewers the darker undercurrents of Mumbai cinema, from ego-driven rivalries to underworld ties and nepotism. The spectacle doesn’t stop there. Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan, SS Rajamouli, Badshah, and Disha Patani all make striking cameos, underscoring the series’ mission to shatter conventions, blur reality with satire, and flood the screen with unrelenting star power.

Music, long inseparable from Bollywood storytelling, plays a central role here. In collaboration with T-Series, composer Shashwat Sachdev spearheads the soundtrack, joined by guest composers Anirudh Ravichander and Ujwal Gupta. Two singles have already stirred excitement: “Badli Si Hawa Hai,” composed by Ravichander and sung by Arijit Singh and Amira Gill, quickly resonated with fans as a youth anthem, while Sachdev’s “Tu Pehli Tu Aakhri,” also featuring Arijit Singh, has added further momentum to the buzz.

Behind the camera, the series carries a formidable creative team. Alongside newcomer Aryan Khan as creator and director, the co-creators are Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, who also share writing credits with Khan. Gauri Khan produces, with Bonnie Jain and Akshat Verma serving as executive producers.

Unapologetically filmy and fiercely self-aware, The Ba***ds of Bollywood (The Bastards of Bollywood) promises a no-filter look at the dazzling yet unforgiving landscape of the Hindi film industry. The series blends biting wit, ambitious storytelling, and marquee cameos to position itself as a cultural flashpoint when it lands on Netflix September 18.
