The curtain has officially fallen on the 2026 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, and after nearly two weeks of premieres, polarising reactions, standing ovations and nonstop speculation, the festival’s biggest prizes have finally been handed out.
From fiercely debated competition titles to surprise victories that shifted the conversation overnight, this year’s ceremony delivered the kind of unpredictability Cannes thrives on.
In the days leading up to the awards, several films had emerged as strong favourites among critics and festival-watchers, while standout performances sparked intense conversations across the Croisette. But as always with Cannes, certainty means very little until the final envelope is opened.
