Japan’s longest-running anime film franchise unveiled its first main trailer today for Doraemon: Nobita and the New Castle of the Undersea Devil, confirming new footage, new characters and the artists behind the upcoming feature’s theme song. The 45th installment in the Doraemon series opens in Japan on February 27, 2026.
The trailer offers the clearest look yet at the film’s expansive underwater setting, introducing vibrant glimpses of the kingdoms of Mu and Atlantis. It also previews the official theme song, “Honto”, performed by sumika, whose vocals underscore the film’s early emotional beats.
Alongside the trailer, producers released a new key visual and fresh setting art, including contrasting production stills — one revealing the ornate kingdom of Mu, the other highlighting the harsher, and more desolate undersea landscapes.
Directed by Tetsuo Yajima with a script by Isao Murayama, the film serves as a modern retelling of the 1983 feature Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil. This updated version reimagines the classic ocean-world adventure while retaining its central premise: Doraemon, Nobita, and friends venturing into the mysterious civilizations beneath the sea. The new poster also confirms the addition of two characters, including Eru (voiced by Shoya Chiba) and the Underwater Buggy (voiced by Ryo Hirohashi).
With anticipation rising for the franchise’s next big-screen chapter, the trailer sets the tone for a visually ambitious return to one of Doraemon’s most enduring storylines.
