EXO’s KAI makes a hotly anticipated comeback with his fourth mini album Wait On Me, a seven-track collection that traces the K-pop superstar’s musical journey and experiences within its intoxicating sonic blend.
Marking his first release in two years KAI’s latest release is the perfect prelude to summer led by the alluring pop and Afrobeats rhythms of the title track. Built on understated yet groovy percussion, soaring synths and delicate vocals, the track produced by British producer Jacob Aaron (ATEEZ, ENHYPEN) builds steadily towards a tense but intricate and emotive celebration of the power and grace of patience.
Next is reggaeton-infused anthem “Walls Don’t Talk,” and the sultry stylings of “Pressure,” followed by “Ridin” co-written by alt-rap star Duckwrth. The album showcases KAI’s sonic versatility spanning various moods and styles with confidence and ease.
The project transitions smoothly from the ferocity of “Ridin,” into the rhythmic touches of “Off and Away,” before finishing off with the dreamy styling of “Adult Swim,” and final offering “Flight to Paris,” weaving an affirming tale about breaking away from the familiar and confronting an unfamiliar version of oneself.
Speaking of his return, KAI says, “With this comeback happening after some time, I’ve gone through a wide range of emotions — excitement and joy, of course, but also a bit of nervousness and pressure. Over time, I’ve come to see my albums as a way to build memories together with EXO-Ls.,” adding, “If this album can bring joy to those who’ve been waiting for me, as well as to new listeners discovering my music for the first time, then I believe that alone gives it purpose. I’m truly looking forward to enjoying every moment of this journey with my fans.”
Establishing a mature and refined musical identity, KAI who has made a lasting impression throughout both his solo career and as part of EXO, continues to establish himself as a global powerhouse who consistently scales new heights. Along with his new album, KAI is also set to take the stage with a 10-city solo tour, ‘2025 KAI SOLO CONCERT TOUR <KAION>’, kicking off in Seoul next month. In June, he will also be returning to perform at the iconic SMTOWN Live in London alongside other K-pop stars such as fellow EXO members SUHO and CHANYEOL, as well as aespa, RIIZE, NCT, Red Velvet, and more.
