New York City dance-pop artist Enzo Nebula is turning inward on his latest single, “Desire,” a self-produced release that explores the emotional risk of opening up to love after heartbreak.
Built around shimmering dance production and nostalgic influences drawn from the European club music, “Desire” examines the tension between longing for connection and fearing the vulnerability that comes with it. Rather than focusing on romance as fantasy, the track centers on the courage required to let someone truly see you.
The single also marks a significant creative milestone for Nebula. After experimenting with outside collaborations on previous releases, he returned to producing entirely on his own, spending five months and crafting 18 different versions before landing on the final cut.
Working from his living room studio, the artist relied on instinct, voice-note melodies, and a hands-on approach to shape the record’s distinct sound.
Visually, “Desire” extends its themes through a futuristic Mars-inspired aesthetic. The accompanying artwork and music video, created alongside Marcelo of Veemagic Productions, place Nebula in an orange-hued landscape accented by falling red rose petals, symbolizing the rush of emotions that accompany vulnerability.
The track has already sparked divided reactions among listeners, with some embracing its unconventional production choices while others question its departure from current mainstream trends, yet celebrating the new release. For Nebula, that response only reinforces his artistic identity.
“I hope people take away from this release that we can celebrate our connections with people and allow ourselves to be vulnerable with people that we trust and care about,” he says. “Dance music is a freeing way to explore and experience our inner world. There is a beauty to it. I hope people are inspired to make art of their own and fully experience life to its fullest.”
