Observed annually on June 5, World Environment Day marks the UN’s primary initiative to encourage global awareness and action for the environment.

The day is celebrated by governments, businesses and people in over 150 countries with the aim of addressing urgent environmental crises.

What is the theme for World Environment Day 2026?

World Environment Day 2026 is focused on the theme of “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

With the campaign led by the hashtag  #NowForClimate, the 2026 theme aims at nature-based solutions for rising global temperatures, efforts to restore and preserve biodiversity and adopting renewable energy sources.

The 2026 event is being hosted by the  The Republic of Azerbaijan, with several events, campaigns and actions taking place across the globe.
