Montello channel creative frustration into indie anthem ‘Suit & Tie’

Wigan indie-rock quartet Montello continue their rapid rise with the release of their new single “Suit & Tie,” — a breezy yet defiant track that captures the restless energy of a band determined to keep moving forward.

Produced by Luke Owens, the single leans into jangling guitars, tight percussion, and a grounded bassline, blending bright indie accessibility with a subtle undercurrent of Brit-rock nostalgia. It lands with a youthful charm, channeling festival-stage indie urgency without losing its emotional weight.

At its core, “Suit & Tie” reflects the realities of pursuing art in a fragile music ecosystem, turning personal frustration into something anthemic and relatable. “Suit & Tie is a song dedicated to the struggle of creative minds around the world,” the band share.

“Since starting this band we’ve seen the peaks and troughs of the music industry, and we all share a burning desire to keep Montello moving forward – none of us want to quit our passion despite the amount of artists and venues struggling in the current climate, none of us want to sit behind a desk instead of doing what we really love, none of us want to die in a suit and a tie.”.”

Formed in late 2023, Montello have wasted little time building momentum, with festival appearances at The Great Escape, Isle of Wight Festival, Tramlines and Sound City, alongside Radio X airplay and sold-out shows at Manchester’s Deaf Institute.

Following their debut EP in April 2025, “Suit & Tie” signals a band sharpening both sound and purpose – one that’s quickly becoming a fixture in the UK indie circuit.
