Rising pop artist Bella Wood shares intoxicating yet powerful offering “Dirty Cherry,” a sharp alt-pop anthem that feels playful and defiant all at once.
Led by her husky vocal delivery and a captivating rhythm, the track is an intricate sonic exercise in duality – feeling polished yet gritty while channeling a lust-fuelled seductive vibe alongside an edgy, unapologetic energy.
Confronting the societal expectations placed on women, particularly in romantic relationships, the rebellious track subverts the narrative, claiming autonomy and control over her story, body and ambition.
With a glossy luxuriant feel that gives away to fearless, empowering layers underneath, the track is one of Wood’s most compelling releases to date.
Speaking of the track, she says “I wrote this song at a time when the gap between who I was and who people said I was felt like a really big jump,” Bella explains. “Instead of internalising my frustration, I write – it’s kind of like keeping a diary for me. Songwriting is the only way I really know how to process my emotions. Me and my producer Nic Charuk explored several iterations before landing on the final version.”
Finding solace in music amidst the unnerving stillness of her childhood, Woods continues to carve out a lane for herself in her craft with resilience and relentless passion.
With this latest release marking a bold new chapter in the promising talent’s musical journey, Bella Wood continues to emerge as an act to keep on your radar.
