The 2026 BRIT Awards belonged to Olivia Dean. On Saturday night, she stepped into Manchester’s Co-op Live arena and walked out as the evening’s defining star.
The London-born singer-songwriter turned steady momentum into history, sweeping four major trophies and stamping her authority on British pop. Dean clinched Album of the Year for her sophomore record The Art of Loving.
She also secured Artist of the Year and Pop Act, in addition to sharing Song of the Year win with Sam Fender for their aching duet “Rein Me In”. These were Dean’s first BRIT wins, and she made them count.
Her double victory in album and artist categories continues a recent pattern set by Adele, Harry Styles, RAYE and Charli XCX. However, RAYE still holds the record for the most wins in a single night, after taking home six awards in 2024.
Meanwhile, Fender extended his winning streak. He added Alternative/Rock Act to his shared Song of the Year prize, marking his third victory in that category in five years.
Lola Young won her first BRIT with Breakthrough Artist, while Wolf Alice claimed Group of the Year for the second time.
On the international front, Rosalía became the first Spanish-language artist to win International Artist of the Year.
At the same time, Rosé made history as the first K-pop artist to win a BRIT, taking International Song with Bruno Mars for “APT.” In addition, Dave became the first two-time winner of Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act.
The academy also presented several honorary awards. Noel Gallagher received Songwriter of the Year, PinkPantheress won Producer of the Year, and Mark Ronson accepted Outstanding Contribution to Music.
The ceremony also paid tribute to late Ozzy Osbourne with a posthumous lifetime achievement award and a performance led by Robbie Williams.
The Brit awards ceremony, held outside London for the first time in its history, unfolded at the new Manchester venue with comedian Jack Whitehall returning as host for a sixth stint. Winners lifted trophies designed by Matthew Williamson, featuring an amber resin base inspired by Manchester’s worker-bee symbol.
