Eddie Redmayne to star in Shoplifters director Hirokazu Kore-eda‘s next English-language project.
The untitled feature – which will be written by Kore-eda – is set to be produced by Redmayne alongside Jonathan King and Ash Sarohia, with Joyce Jun and Kaoru Matsuzaki as exec producers.
The film will add to Redmayne’s growing slate of projects as producer including the West End revival of Cabaret starring Jessie Buckley as well as the Peacock/Sky series The Day of the Jackal – which he also stars in and exec produces on Season 2. On the acting front, Redmayne is also set to star in Warner Bros Panic Carefully opposite Julia Roberts.
For Kore-eda – whose 2018 film Shoplifters won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film – his filmography continues to expand across the globe spanning French feature The Truth, Korean feature Broker, as well as the Netflix series The Makanai and Asura. His upcoming projects include Monster and Sheep in the Box set for release this year.
The plot for the upcoming Redmayne-Kore-eda film from Searchlight Pictures is unknown at this time.
