Thai-British actress/singer Rebecca “Becky” Patricia Armstrong has been named the lead in reboot of popular anthology thriller series Girl From Nowhere.
Titled, Girl From Nowhere: The Reset, the new series is set to be a complete reimagining of hit series Girl From Nowhere, which followed Nanno, a mysterious girl transfers through various private schools in Thailand to unravel the lies, hidden truths, and moral failures of by students and staff.
Originally starring Chicha “Kitty” Amatayakul as enigmatic Nanno across two seasons, the series gained international acclaim on Netflix during its between 2018-2021.
Today, January 14, the official social media account for the series teased their upcoming reboot season with an alluring poster hinting reveal of a new actress in the lead role.
Later, Becky Armstrong – of beloved GL pairing FreenBecky – was revealed to be taking over the powerful role. The poster introducing her states “Hello, I’m Nanno. Nice to meet you”, with Becky’s menacing presence underscored by the tagline: “When evil strikes every day, Nanno must return.”
Fans of the series and Becky took social media by storm after the announcement with #girlfromnowherethereset, #nanno and #beckysangels trending worldwide – indicating the incredible anticipation for the reboot.
Girl From Nowhere: The Reset is not set to be a continuation to the previous season, with Becky’s Nanno setting up an entirely new universe – with no connection characters from earlier seasons – supported by a completely different cast.
Set to be a standalone story in a separate timeline, this new instalment marks a bold reimagining of the franchise while still maintaining the signature exploration of hypocrisy and dark secrets within Thailand’s private school system.
The series will air every Saturday on Channel One 31 starting March 7 at 8:30pm, with an uncut version available on the oneD streaming app. Reports suggest the series might also be available on Netflix like its predecessors.
