Celebrating a decade of TayNew as PeteKao

TayNew

It’s been 10 years since TayNew appeared for the first time as an onscreen pair.

On January 10, 2016, GMMTV took its early steps into the then-rising BL genre with actors Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom playing Pete Phubodin and Kao Phanuwat in Kiss: The Series.

A minor, side pairing who managed to gain significant traction, TayNew became part of GMMTV’s first wave of mainstream BL pairs and productions alongside KristSingto (SOTUS) and OffGun (Puppy Honey).

TayNew’s chemistry as PeteKao saw them get bigger role in 2018’s spin-off Kiss Me Again, with more screen space and further opportunity to explore their onscreen dynamic.

By 2019, the pairing who were already established as one of GMMTV’s BL pillars got their own separate spinoff Dark Blue Kiss, closing out the arc of their characters with a more mature storyline.

From there the pair have gone to act together in others series like non-BL ensemble series I’m Tee, Mee Too, bromance-leaning Peaceful Property as well as the Thai adaptation of hit Japanese BL Cherry Magic.

From gracing screens as a minor pairing to drawing fans – fondly known as Polca – from around the world with their charm, banter and chemistry, TayNew are undoubtedly a mainstay of Thai BL, remaining relevant and influential even as the genre explodes beyond global boundaries.

Cheers to a decade of TayNew on our screens – with much more to come!
