Noah Kahan’s benefit concert at MGM Music Hall at Fenway delivered an unannounced moment of star power Thursday night when global popstar Niall Horan stepped onstage to join the Vermont singer-songwriter for a live performance of Kahan’s hit “Northern Attitude.”
The appearance, which had not been teased beyond a vague promise of a “special guest,” quickly became the defining highlight of the Nov. 20 event.

Kahan has maintained a close connection to Boston audiences throughout his career, from early shows at the same venue to two sold-out Fenway Park dates in 2024. Niall Horan’s cameo landed on the eve of another shared commitment: he and Kahan were slated to headline a celebrity golf event in Florida the following day as part of TGL’s Boston Common Golf team. The timing, and their offstage business ties, gave the surprise duet an added layer of intrigue.
