Demi Moore returned to the screen in a high-profile cinematic debut this week, headlining Gucci’s short film The Tiger, which premiered Tuesday night at Palazzo Mezzanotte to open Milan Fashion Week. Directed by Oscar winner Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn, the 30-minute film blends satire, psychedelia and couture, introducing a bold new chapter for Gucci under creative director Demna.
Moore stars as Barbara Gucci, the formidable matriarch of a fictional Gucci dynasty and the self-styled ruler of California, in a role that blends glamour, authority, and surreal humor. For her birthday, Barbara hosts an opulent dinner party with her children—played by Edward Norton, Elliot Page, and Keke Palmer—and a probing Vanity Fair journalist, portrayed by Ed Harris.
The carefully staged evening descends into chaos when psychedelics come into play, threatening Barbara’s meticulously curated pristine reputation and forcing the family to confront deep-seated imperfections.

The ensemble cast also features Alia Shawkat, Julianne Nicholson, Heather Lawless, Ronny Chieng, Kendall Jenner, and Alex Consani, blending established Hollywood talent with contemporary icons of style.
Jonze and Reijn bring their distinct creative voices together in a short film that balances tongue-in-cheek satire with moments of tension, while Demi Moore anchors the narrative with a poised yet emotionally charged performance. Similar to her recent work in critically-acclaimed The Substance, Moore excels as a character navigating control and chaos, making the film compelling beyond its fashion context.
The film premiere doubled as a showcase for Demna’s debut collection for Gucci, “La Famiglia“. Models from the campaign joined stars and celebrities on the brown carpet, transforming the Milan Stock Exchange into both a runway and a cinema. Demi Moore arrived in a glittering, gold-beaded gown that immediately commanded attention, while Gwyneth Paltrow, Jin of BTS, Serena Williams, Anna Wintour, David Jonsson, and Alia Bhatt were among the high-profile attendees.
Speaking to Variety on the carpet, Page praised working with Moore as “incredible. Definitely trippy, pardon the pun — you’ll know what I mean based on the short. But it was just a phenomenal experience and she’s such a wonderful person, so sweet and kind to everyone. And obviously a tremendous actor, so getting to have my days working with Demi was the best.”
Nicholson, who attended the premiere in character alongside Lawless, said of Jonze and Reijn’s direction: “It felt like walking onto the set of a Fellini movie or some sort of trippy dream. It remains, up until this moment, something I’ve never experienced before and a fantastic ride.”
The Tiger stands out as a unique convergence of fashion, cinema, and celebrity world, offering a glimpse of Gucci’s new creative direction while reaffirming Moore’s enduring screen presence.
