Zara Larsson is officially ushering in summer 2025 with a glowing new anthem. The Swedish pop powerhouse released her latest single, “Midnight Sun”, on Friday (June 13), marking the dawn of a bold new era—one that radiates freedom, passion, and the heady feeling of falling in love beneath endless twilight skies.
The electrifying track, co-produced by long-time collaborator MNEK alongside Margo XS and Zhone, captures everything that’s come to define Larsson’s artistry: shimmering synths, magnetic hooks, and emotional honesty wrapped in sleek, dance-ready production. “Midnight Sun” is the title track from Larsson’s upcoming studio album, which was announced just last week. The ten-track project, also titled Midnight Sun, will arrive on September 26 via Sommer House / Epic Records. It follows the release of April’s ferocious and unapologetically bold lead single “Pretty Ugly”, and sets the tone for what Zara describes as her “most personal and confident work yet.”
“In thinking about this album, I thought, ‘What do I want to say? What do I want this to be?’” Larsson said in a recent press statement. “I really am proud of my Swedish pop heritage, so I wanted to write about a Swedish summer where the sun never goes down. I wanted the whole album to feel like it’s a summer night and it never ends.”
“Midnight Sun”—the single—was also the very first track written for the album, setting the emotional and sonic foundation for the rest of the record. The song bursts with a euphoric sense of liberation and longing, echoing the themes of an endless summer that Larsson draws from her Nordic roots. Her vocals soar over pulsating production, capturing that fleeting yet unforgettable moment when the night feels infinite and anything is possible.
The album promises to be a multifaceted portrait of the 27-year-old star, whose journey through nearly two decades in the spotlight has been marked by both meteoric success and continuous reinvention. “It just feels like me,” she says. “Knowing myself, this album is just really, really me. And also, no one can do me the way I can.”
The upcoming LP boasts contributions from songwriter Helena Gao and sees Larsson pushing deeper into emotional territory while still delivering the kind of euphoric bangers fans have come to expect. It’s an album equally comfortable with being lovestruck or self-assured, wistful or cocky—all within the span of a single verse.
In support of the album, Larsson will embark on a global tour beginning August 4, opening for Tate McRae’s Miss Possessive Tour in Vancouver. She’ll then headline across the UK, North America, Europe, and Australia, including a major show at Dublin’s 3Arena on November 7. General ticket sales open this Friday, with pre-sales already underway.
