Lyrical Muse

The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards has crowned the television winners of the past year, with Apple TV+’s Widow’s Bay emerging as the night’s biggest winner.

The horror-comedy took home six awards during the main ceremony, including Outstanding Comedy Series, while Matthew Rhys, Kate O’Flynn and Stephen Root also picked up acting honours for the series.

The Pitt also had a strong night, adding two major trophies to its haul after entering the ceremony with 25 nominations across the Primetime and Creative Arts Emmys. Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while the medical drama took home Outstanding Drama Series, beating fellow contenders including Pluribus, The Gilded Age and Slow Horses.

Meanwhile, Hacks’ Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, marking the show’s only win of the evening despite its record-breaking 24 nominations.

In the limited or anthology series categories, DTF St. Louis took home the top prize over All Her Fault, The Beast in Me, Beef and Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
