Dior announces first-ever runway show in Ireland

Dior is heading to Dublin. The French fashion house will present its Pre-Fall 2027 collection at Trinity College Dublin’s historic Old Library on Friday, December 4, marking the first time Dior has staged a runway show in Ireland.

For Jonathan Anderson, the location makes the upcoming presentation particularly personal. The Northern Irish designer began his fashion career in Dublin, working at Brown Thomas, before establishing his own label, JW Anderson, and later taking the creative reins at Loewe.

His appointment at Dior has since placed him at the helm of both the house’s womenswear and menswear collections.

“Showing at Trinity College Dublin is a dream come true. I began my career in fashion in Dublin, so returning here feels deeply personal. To present this collection in such an extraordinary setting – at an institution with such an important cultural history – is a real honour.”

The December presentation will also be Anderson’s first runway show in Ireland since joining Dior. The collection will be unveiled inside the Old Library’s Long Room, bringing the house’s Parisian fashion heritage into one of Dublin’s most recognisable historic settings.

The choice of Dublin carries a particularly relevant connection to Dior’s own fashion history through Carmel Snow. Born in Dublin, Snow was the influential editor-in-chief of the American edition of Harper’s Bazaar and is credited with coining the phrase “New Look” after seeing Christian Dior’s debut collection in 1947. The connection has also been reflected in the visual language surrounding the announcement of Anderson’s upcoming show.

The setting has another connection to Anderson’s work at Dior. His approach to the house has already incorporated references to literature and cultural heritage, including the Dior Book Cover collection, which features reproductions of first-edition covers of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and James Joyce’s Ulysses.

Anderson’s relationship with Trinity College Dublin also predates his appointment at Dior. In 2025, he became the first fashion designer to be made an Honorary Patron of Trinity’s University Philosophical Society.

For Dior, the December show marks a new location for its runway calendar and a first appearance in Ireland. For Anderson, it brings the Dior name to the city where his own fashion career began, with the Pre-Fall 2027 collection set to unfold against the historic architecture of Trinity’s Old Library.
