Detroit rapper Symphonic isn’t interested in retelling another breakup story from the perspective of the one left behind. Instead, his latest single, “Nothing Hurts Worse Than the Truth”, examines the far less explored moment when emotional detachment leaves honesty as the only option.
Built around that uncomfortable admission, the track shifts the conversation away from heartbreak and toward acceptance. Rather than dwelling on betrayal or regret, Symphonic frames the end of a relationship through the eyes of someone who has already let go, confronting the painful reality that the hardest words to hear can also be the most necessary. It’s a perspective that gives the record an emotional edge without relying on melodrama, allowing its directness to carry the weight.
The single also offers another glimpse into the Detroit artist’s evolving creative identity. Known for his self-described “glam trap” sound, Symphonic continues to blur the lines between theatrical expression and contemporary hip-hop, pairing unapologetic lyricism with a style that values personality as much as precision. The release follows his 2020 debut album Intention, which reached the iTunes Hip-Hop Albums chart, and arrives ahead of his forthcoming EP, run with the narrative, due on Aug. 11.
