Bijou Belle captures new romance on playful alt-pop single ‘Blind Crush’

Bijou Belle Returns With Playful Alt-Pop Single 'Blind Crush'

Fresh from introducing herself to a national audience on NBC’s The Voice, 17-year-old South Dakota alt-pop artist Bijou Belle returns with “Blind Crush,” a buoyant indie-pop single that swaps emotional introspection for the exhilarating chaos of an all-consuming crush.

Built around the dizzy excitement of infatuation, the track captures the impulsive rush of a crush before reality has a chance to catch up. Bright indie-pop hooks and an easygoing groove keep the mood buoyant, while Belle’s warm vocal delivery gives the song enough personality to make its lighthearted premise stick. Rather than overcomplicating the feeling, “Blind Crush” succeeds by embracing its carefree spirit.

“‘Blind Crush’ was written from that totally irrational headspace where a crush makes you throw logic out the window,” said Bijou Bella. “It’s a fictional story, but I think everyone can relate to getting caught up in the excitement of someone new. We leaned into the humor, the chaos, and the butterflies because it’s meant to be playful, not deep. It’s just a feel-good song to crank up and have fun with.”

The release follows a busy period for Belle, who competed on the latest season of NBC’s The Voice as part of Team Adam before releasing her cover of Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower,” the song she performed on the show, alongside her original single “Close the Door.” Shortly before her TV debut, Belle and her sibling band, The RathCo, introduced themselves with their self-titled debut EP.

With “Blind Crush,” Belle continues to broaden her sound, delivering an infectious alt-pop release that captures the carefree exhilaration of a new romantic obsession without taking itself too seriously.
