The Television Academy has unveiled the nominees for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, setting the stage for one of television’s biggest nights with a mix of expected frontrunners, standout newcomers and a few headline-making surprises.

Medical drama The Pitt emerged as this year’s most nominated series with 25 nods, while the final season of Hacks followed closely behind with 24 — the highest nomination tally ever earned by a comedy in a single season.

Apple TV+ also enjoyed a strong showing, with freshman dramas Widow’s Bay and Pluribus collecting 19 and 18 nominations respectively, while Netflix’s Beef secured 16. Across platforms, HBO Max led the field with 122 nominations, ahead of Netflix’s 111 and Apple TV+’s 87, underscoring another fiercely competitive year across broadcast and streaming.

This year’s nominations also delivered several talking points.

Stranger Things failed to break into the marquee drama categories despite earning seven technical nominations, while Euphoria landed only a single major acting nod for Zendaya. The Bear returned to the Outstanding Comedy Series race, but two-time reigning winner Jeremy Allen White was absent from the Lead Actor lineup.

Meanwhile, British performers enjoyed a strong presence across the acting races, led by Matthew Rhys, who became the only actor nominated in two lead performance categories.

The winners will be announced on September 14 at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, with the ceremony moving to a Monday for the first time in years because of NBC’s NFL schedule.
