Australian singer-songwriter Firerose explores the fragility of learning to love again after devastation on shimmering offering “Love Knows How.”
Built around a simple yet impactful refrain, the resonant track is led by intimate vocals and thoughtful songwriting as it captures the peaks and troughs of healing. Laden with the crisp clarity that healing is never instant or easy, the track offers hope and resilience to rebuild ourselves amidst vulnerability.
The track is elevated by vivid, self-directed visuals that paints the image of heartbreak before healing brings the jagged pieces back together again. Drawing from the Japanese art of kintsugi, which illuminates an object’s broken parts, the tender track and luminous visuals remind us that our flaws aren’t meant to be hidden but embraced.
Coming on the back of a deeply personal journey shaped by faith, healing and reclamation of self, the track encapsulates what it feels like heal, grow and set yourself free from the burdens of your pain, framed by vulnerability and power in equal parts.
Speaking of the track, she says. “For me, this song is about believing that even the most broken things can be made whole again. There are moments where you think your heart is beyond repair, but grace has a way of finding the broken places and making something beautiful there. Love knows how to do what we can’t do on our own. Love doesn’t erase what happened. But real love doesn’t leave you in pieces. It restores and teaches you that what was broken can actually become the most beautiful parts of you.”
“I wanted the video to show the act of artistic creation happening in real time. The cracks are still there, but they are filled with gold. That felt so true to what healing has meant for me. You don’t become who you were before. You become someone who carries the evidence of what you survived, but in a way that can shine,” she adds.
Carried by quiet self-belief, the track offers courage, honesty and relatability driven by Firerose’s intimate musicality as she refuses to let pain have the final word.
