Maria Ellis embraces vulnerability on new pop-R&B single “Lucky”

Maria Ellis is opening a new chapter in her evolving relationship narrative with the release of “Lucky,” a soaring pop-R&B ballad that trades emotional uncertainty for trust, gratitude and genuine connection.

Arriving alongside an official music video, the self-written and co-produced track follows Ellis’ recent single “Relapse,” which explored the pull of a relationship she knew she should leave behind. On “Lucky,” however, the rising artist shifts the perspective, reflecting on the comfort and optimism that made the relationship worth holding onto in the first place.

Built around lush string arrangements, layered vocals and slick contemporary production, “Lucky” captures the feeling of being fully seen and accepted by someone else, even while learning to extend that same compassion to yourself.

Rather than focusing on grand romantic gestures, Ellis leans into emotional honesty, examining how love can provide stability during moments of self-doubt.

The release further showcases the songwriter’s ability to blend intimate storytelling with accessible pop and R&B influences. Its cinematic soundscape allows the song’s central message to take center stage, creating a record that feels both deeply personal and widely relatable.

“Lucky” also serves as another piece of a larger storytelling arc Ellis is building across multiple releases. While “Relapse” chronicled the complications of a troubled connection, “Lucky” revisits an earlier stage of that journey, offering a portrait of trust, vulnerability and the rare kind of love that feels like home.
