Charli XCX has officially launched her next era, announcing that her seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, will arrive on July 24.
The singer revealed the project on June 1 with an Instagram post unveiling the album artwork, a striking black-and-white portrait featuring three cultural heavyweights: musician John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs and filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The post reflects the album’s title and its intersection of creative disciplines.
According to Charli, the record will span 11 tracks and run just over 30 minutes. It follows the release of lead singles “Rock Music” and “SS26,” both of which hint at a notable shift from the dance-pop sound that helped propel Brat into a cultural phenomenon in 2024.
The album title originates from a lyric in “SS26,” where Charli delivers a bleak observation on modern culture: “Nothing’s gonna save us, not music, fashion or film.” The track, alongside the guitar-driven “Rock Music,” has fueled discussion about the sonic direction of the new project.
While many online listeners have interpreted the singles as a move toward rock influences, Charli XCX has repeatedly pushed back against straightforward genre labels.
Earlier this year, the artist suggested her next chapter would challenge expectations rather than repeat familiar formulas. The first two releases have already signaled that intent, embracing experimentation and expanding the boundaries of her established sound.
The announcement arrives as Charli XCX continues a busy year across music, film and television, further cementing her status as one of pop’s most unpredictable and creatively ambitious voices.
