George Bone drops stirring new single ‘Floating Away’ ahead of upcoming EP

George Bone has released his latest single “Floating Away” today, offering an emotionally rich preview of his forthcoming EP The Yes Man, due September 24.

The Essex and London-based singer-songwriter continues to build on the momentum surrounding his recent BBC Introducing Essex & Cambridgeshire Ones To Watch for 2025 recognition with a radio-ready track that feels both intimate and cinematic. Rooted in pop while drawing from neo-jazz and folk influences, “Floating Away” captures the emotional unraveling of a relationship with striking clarity and restraint.

Opening with soft fingerpicked guitar and Bone’s understated vocal delivery, the single slowly expands into a sweeping arrangement filled with strings, brass, synth textures, and percussion that push the track toward a powerful finale. Rather than relying on dramatic excess, Bone lets the song breathe naturally, allowing its tension and vulnerability to land with greater impact.

Speaking about the track, Bone explained that he and producer Fionn Connolly experimented with rubato phrasing to reflect the “ebb and flow” of a relationship, while the climactic instrumental section became one of their favourite moments from the record.

“Floating Away” also signals a creative shift for Bone ahead of The Yes Man, a six-track EP he describes as both reflective and transformative. With growing BBC support, festival appearances across the UK, and more than 200,000 Spotify streams behind him, Bone’s latest release further solidifies his place among the UK’s rising singer-songwriters.
