The independent electronic artist has released his latest EP, SODA, a high-voltage dance-pop project that blends hyperpop chaos, French house nostalgia and sharp emotional commentary into one tightly packed release.
Among the standout tracks is “HIGHLIGHTS 2.0,” a glossy, emotionally charged anthem that pays tribute to the golden era of French house while digging into the tension between memory and self-perception.
Driven by shimmering synths and a restless club beat, the track balances euphoria with introspection, capturing the feeling of chasing comfort in a world constantly overstimulated. Instead of leaning into empty dance-floor escapism, obee gives the song emotional weight without losing its momentum.
The 28-year-old artist handles nearly every aspect of the project himself, including writing, singing, production, mixing, mastering, visuals, and branding.
That DIY approach gives SODA a distinct identity, rooted in both personal storytelling and the raw energy of dance music culture. Across the EP, obee explores themes of consumerism, mental health, desire and survival in an increasingly exhausting digital landscape.
Raised on artists like Daft Punk, deadmau5, and Krewella, obee channels those influences into music that feels nostalgic yet urgent. More importantly, SODA arrives as another sign that Nashville’s electronic underground is evolving fast, and as obee puts it, “the party never ends.”
