The annual HUBAwards 2025, a fan-voted awards celebrating the best of Boys Love (BL) and Girls Content (GL) across the globe announced this year’s winners on April 1.
Held every year in Brazil and considered a prestigious celebration of the best moments in pop culture, several beloved BL and GL shows across different languages took home big prizes this year.
Awards season favourite Domundi‘s romantic-thriller Thai BL series Khemjira – starring KengNamping – won four awards ‘Best Production,’ ‘Best Dramatic Scene,’ ‘Best Suspense Thriller and Best Original Score.’
While actors KengNamping won ‘Best Rookie Couple,’ Khemjira‘s second pairing ChanJet -played by actors Tle Matimun and FirstOne Wannakorn – were also named ‘Best Supporting Couple’ (Characters).
Another supernatural Thai BL series Goddess Bless You From Death from Change 2561 starring PoohPavel was awarded for ‘Best Makeup and Character Design’ while Pooh Krittin was named ‘Best Actor.’
While PoohPavel won ‘Best Chemistry,’ their company mates and popular Thai GL pairing LookmheeSonya (LMSY) took first place on ‘Most Engaged Fandom.’
One of GMMTV’s most popular Thai BL pairings WilliamEst won ‘Best Couple’ with their series ThamePo taking home the prizes for ‘Best Series,’ ‘Best Thai BL’ and ‘Best Kiss Scene’ among other categories, with their characters (ThamePo) also winning ‘Best Lead Couple.’
While William Jakrapat was awarded ‘Best Rookie Actor,’ Est Supha was named ‘Hottest Actor’ with WilliamEst’s new series You Maniac was also voted ‘Most Anticipated Series.’
One of Thai GL’s most popular pairing MilkLove swept several awards include ‘Best Couple’ and ‘Best Chemistry’ with their series WhaleStoreXOXO winning ‘Best Series’ and ‘Best Thai GL’ as well as for ‘Best Kiss Scene’ and ‘Best Dramatic Scene,’ with Love Pattranite named ‘Best Actress.’ Also in Thai GL, series Love Design starring Kao Supassara and Janeyeh Methika also won ‘Best Cinematography,’ and ‘Best Work.’
Meanwhile, GL ClaireBell starring MablePang swept awards for ‘Best Direction,’ ‘Best Production,’ and ‘Best Social Impact,’ with FayMay‘s series SomewhereSomehow winning ‘Best Screenplay.’ EmiBonnie also won ‘Best Rookie Couple’ with Bonnie Pattraphus also taking home ‘Best Rookie Actress’ and Emi Thasorn‘s “More Than Words” winning “Best Original Scoring.’
In the ‘Best Performance’ category Thai stars Ginny Natnicha was awarded as the best actress while Peak Peemapol won best actor while BL pairing KengNamping and GL pairing LMSY both won for best couple awards.
Other notable wins from Thai entertainment included super-hit series Me and Thee winning ‘Best RomCom,’ BL pair FirstKhaotung winning ‘Best Dynamic,’ MileApo‘s Shine The Series winning ‘Best Production Design,’ and ‘Best Work,’ GelBoys winning ‘Best Screenplay,’ and ‘Best Direction, ‘ with PondPeterpan‘s Reset and PamArhoung‘s Queendom both named ‘Highlight of the Year – Thailand.’ in BL and GL respectively.
In the ‘Most Engaged Fandom’ category, FirstKhaotung took first place followed by JossGawin in second place with WilliamEst earning third spot.
From across Asia several BLs were awarded including popular Netflix Japanese BL movie 10Dance winning ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Cinematography.’
Also from Japan, BL Series School Trip : Joined A Group I’m Not Close To won two awards ‘ Best Japenese BL’ and ‘Highlight of the Year -Japan.’ Meanwhile in Japanese GL, Call Me By No Name won ‘Best Japanese GL’ and ‘Highlight of the Year – Japan’
With 2025 being a year of hit Chinese BLs, two popular series shined at the awards as ABO Desire was named ‘Highlight of the Year-China’ and Revenged Love won both ‘Best Chinese BL’ and ‘Best Gagaoolala Series.’ From Korea, BL Secret Relationships took home the awards for ‘Best Korean BL’ and ‘Highlight of the Year – Korea.’
Other wins being celebrated by netizens include ‘Best Social Critique’ for Japanese drama series Chosen Home and Thai series Love in the Moonlight winning ‘Best Historical/Period Series.’ Canadian queer sports romance and global sensation Heated Rivalry was also named ‘Best LGBTQ+ Series,’ marking the expansion of BL and GL content beyond Asia to becoming an internationally beloved and popular genre.
The HUBAwards 2025 was broadcast globally on Wednesday, April 1, presented and live-streamed by leading LGBTQ+ content platform GagaOOLala, which was the global streaming partner for the ceremony.
