Seven pet dogs from China have gone viral for their dramatic escape from thieves.
The group of dogs who grew up in neighbour households in a village in northeastern China were stolen for dog meat, but managed to escape while being transported.
The dogs went viral on March 16 after a video of them moving along a highway in tight formation spread across social media.
According to the South China Morning Post, the determined group – who grew up and played together as a pack – was led by a brave little corgi and also consisted of other breeds like German shepherd, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, and a Pekingese.
Netizens were impressed by how organised the group seemed as they move through high-traffic areas and open fields. In addition to the leadership of the corgi, people also noticed how the pack protected the injured German Shepherd by surrounding it.
More footage filmed by locals saw the dogs staying united – ignoring any attempts at human intervention – as they travelled 17kms to make it back home to their village.
Volunteers kept track of their movements and as of March 19, local rescuers have confirmed that all seven dogs have been reunited with their owners. Besides small injuries from the escape and journey, all dogs are healthy and safe.
Social media is in awe of the dogs bravery, resilience and unity as the clips of their incredible journey spreads around the world.
