Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney has announced his new project – ALEXANDER for Netflix.
Based on Annabel Lyon’s novel The Golden Mean, the drama series will be centred on the relationship between the future ruler Alexander the Great and his tutor Aristotle.
Tierney is set write, direct and executive produce the series which -according to the official description – is set in the crumbling Athenian empire where “the world’s greatest mind, Aristotle, arrives in Macedonia to tutor a volatile young prince, Alexander.”
The description also hints at “palace intrigue, forbidden love, brutal war and ruthless ambitions, their unlikely friendship shapes an empire and alters the course of history.”
In a statement about the project, Tierney said : “I fell in love with Annabel Lyon’s book ‘The Golden Mean’ years ago and have been dreaming of telling this story ever since.”
Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan via Aggregate Films as well as Heated Rivalry executive producer Brendan Brady will be exec producers alongside Tierney on the project.
