obee turns doubt into dancefloor defiance on new single “Don't Stop Me”

Electronic pop artist obee has released his latest single “DON’T STOP ME,” a club-driven house track that doubles as a personal reckoning.

The 28-year-old Vermont native, born Owen Barclay, built the record as a direct response to gaslighting, comparison culture and the creeping doubt that often arrives just when life seems to be falling into place.

Written, produced, and engineered entirely by obee, the track blends lush dance production with emotional grit. Pulsing basslines anchor glossy synth textures, while the hook lands as a house-driven, dance-pop anthem with the urgency of someone refusing to fold.

In just over a few minutes, “DON’T STOP ME” shifts from tension to lift-off, transforming frustration into forward motion. t’s built for flashing lights and late-night floors, but it hits just as hard through headphones on a late-night drive.

Lyrically, the song confronts the residue of past toxic relationships and the pressure of late-twenties expectations. obee calls it “an intentional self-gaslight to not be gaslit. It’s also a banger.” The defiance feels earned. Rather than masking insecurity, he weaves it into the production, letting the drop act as release instead of escape.

A self-taught musician with roots in theatre and dance, obee first honed his production skills during his freshman year at Ithaca College, where he spent most days making beats in his dorm room with the door open for anyone curious enough to step in.

That DIY ethos still defines his work. He remains the sole creative force behind his releases, embracing independence while acknowledging, “everyone gets somewhere with help from someone else at some point.”

With “DON’T STOP ME,” obee aims to energize listeners facing their own opposition. “I hope people walk away feeling re-energized and validated,” he says. “More than ever people need love and encouragement right now.”

The message is simple. Keep going.
