RM x SFMOMA will be a first time showcase of the BTS leader’s passion for art.
The first-ever museum exhibition featuring artworks from RM‘s personal collection, the exhibit is set to bring together 200 works from the collections of RM and SFMOMA.
Offering art lovers a rare opportunity to see modern and contemporary Korean artworks in tandem with works from around the world, many artworks of the collection have never before been exhibited to the public in the US.
Some of the key Korean artists represented in the collection of RM are Yun Hyong-keun, Park Rehyun, Kwon Okyon, Kim Yun Shin, To Sangbong, and Chang Ucchin alongside various other notable contemporary artists from around the globe.
Curated by RM himself, the exhibition is set to highlight the shared themes between the above artists and SFMOMA collection artworks by Korean artist Kim Whanki as well as renowned American and European artists like Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Paul Klee.
Commenting on the exhibit on the SFMOMA website, RM has said: “We live in an age defined by boundaries. This exhibition at SFMOMA reflects those boundaries: between East and West, Korea and America, the modern and the contemporary, the personal and the universal. I don’t want to prescribe how these works should be seen; whether out of curiosity or study, all perspectives are welcome. My only hope is that this exhibition can be a small but sturdy bridge for many.”
RM x SFMOMA opens on Oct 3, 2026 and will be available to view till Feb 7, 2027.
