Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show ignites massive global streaming surge

Bad Bunny’s appearance at the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show translated into one of the most explosive global music listening moments of the year, according to newly released Apple Music data.

Performed on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the Puerto Rican superstar delivered a high-impact halftime set alongside Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. The impact was immediate. Apple Music reported a sharp spike in simultaneous listeners right after halftime, with Bad Bunny’s listenership surging seven times on the platform following the performance.

Three tracks that dominated listening activity right after the show, included “DtMF,” “BAILE INoLVIDABLE,” and “Tití Me Preguntó.” Among them, “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” emerged as the clear breakout across platforms and markets in the days surrounding the event.

Following the release of the official halftime show trailer on January 16, the song’s Apple Muse plays rose 54 percent in the U.S. and 36 percent globally. The song also gained strong traction in non-Spanish-speaking countries, with plays increasing 60 percent in Canada, 54 percent in the UK, and 43 percent in Brazil.

Listener curosity extended beyond streaming. Lyrics views for “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” jumped 119 percent in the U.S. and 79 percent globally, while the track climbed to No. 1 on the U.S. Latin chart. The song entered the top 10 in nine U.S. cities, jumping 50 chart positions in Chicago and 71 positions in Houston, two markets with heavy NFL viewership.

The top five most-streamed songs following halftime were “BAILE INoLVIDABLE,” “DtMF,” “Tití Me Preguntó,” “Moscow Mule,” and “Vete.” Listener activity peaked in cities including Mexico City, New York, Los Angeles, Lima, Chicago, and Miami.

Beyond streaming platforms, Bad Bunny also saw gains across Shazam and radio. U.S. Shazam recognitions rose 8 percent month over month in January, while U.S. radio spins reached their highest level since June 2025, marking a 13 percent increase over the previous six months. “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” alone saw a 130 percent spike in Shazam volume on January 16 and later reached No. 30 on the U.S. Shazam chart on January 22.

Offstage, Bad Bunny continued to break records. His Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show press conference became the most-watched in Super Bowl history, surpassing 63 million views within 48 hours across livestreams and social clips. Bad Bunny also broke the record for the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show on YouTube in the first 24 hours, accumulating over 48 million views.

Notably, the scale of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl moment did not come with a traditional paycheck. Like very artist who headlines the Super Bowl halftime show, Bad Bunny did not receive a performance fee from the NFL. Instead, the league covers production and travel expenses — budgets that often exceed $10 million — while artists receive only a minimal union-scale payment under SAG-AFTRA rules.

The trade-off is visibility on a level only few platforms can match. With hundreds of millions of viewers tuning in worldwide, the halftime show functions less as a paid gig and more as a cultural accelerator. Past artists have even invested their own money to elevate the spectacle, most notably The Weeknd, who reportedly spent $7 million of his own funds on his 2021 show.

For Bad Bunny, the immediate sevenfold surge in Apple Music listeners, combined with chart movement and Shazam growth, underscores why artists continue to accept the deal. The exposure often delivers returns far beyond a single night. And the Apple Music real-time numbers leave little room for debate: Bad Bunny didn’t simply headline the Super Bowl halftime show — he unified screens, speakers, and cities worldwide in one synchronized listen.
