"The Devil Wears Prada 2" brings back Miranda, Andy and fashion warfare

Nearly two decades after The Devil Wears Prada reshaped pop culture and fashion fantasies, the high heels are clicking back into place.

20th Century Studios has officially released the trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, confirming the long-awaited return of Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. And yes, it’s every bit as sharp, stylish and icy as fans hoped.

The forthcoming high-fashion drama sequel reunites Streep with her most iconic role as Miranda Priestly, now navigating a radically changed media world. Print journalism is fading, budgets are shrinking and Runway magazine faces an existential threat. This time, Miranda isn’t the unquestioned queen of fashion — she’s fighting to stay relevant.

Her biggest obstacle? Emily Charlton. Emily Blunt returns as Miranda’s former assistant, now a powerful executive at a luxury conglomerate controlling the ad money Runway desperately needs. The power dynamic has flipped, and the trailer makes one thing clear: this battle won’t be polite.

Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs also steps back into the Runway universe — not as an assistant, but as a Features Editor, signaling how far she’s climbed since her chaotic early days in fashion media. Yet Miranda’s chilly non-recognition of Andy raises questions. Is it selective memory, strategic shade or something far more calculated?

While the trailer keeps plot details deliberately vague, it delivers exactly what fans crave. Expect everything from razor-sharp dialogue, high-fashion orbits, impeccably styled confrontations, glossy New York locations, and Meryl Streep commanding every frame with effortless menace. If anything, Miranda Priestly feels even more dangerous now.

The returning cast includes Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman. Kenneth Branagh and Patrick Brammall join as romantic interests for Miranda and Andy. The sequel also boasts an impressive new lineup featuring Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Justin Theroux, Lady Gaga, Pauline Chalamet and more. Adrian Grenier, who played the role of Nate, will not return.

David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna are back behind the scenes, ensuring continuity with the original film. The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1, 2026, and fashion is officially sharpening its claws again.
