The long-awaited first official trailer for Michael has finally arrived, and it’s already rewriting the record books.
Lionsgate unveiled the teaser for the Michael Jackson biopic on April 24, instantly igniting global conversation around the King of Pop’s legacy and the man chosen to portray him—his real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) and produced by Oscar-winner Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody), Michael aims to deliver a definitive big-screen portrait of one of the most influential entertainers of all time.
The response has been staggering. In less than 24 hours of release, the trailer amassed over 280 million views (at the time of writing this article), making it the most-watched trailer for a music biopic in history.
The footage traces Michael Jackson’s meteoric rise from Jackson 5 prodigy to global pop phenomenon. It showcases intimate studio moments with Quincy Jones, meticulously recreated visuals from the iconic Thriller era, and electrifying concert sequences that spotlight Jaafar Jackson’s uncanny resemblance — both physical and performative — to his uncle.
